I found an article from USA Today that explains it. (Stupid me, I was using yahoo not google before).
Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Last night, we were watching a disc of Season 1 Deadwood (really good show, isn't it? shrift, you're going to have to pick this up at some point so you can write me Seth/Sol), and husband said, "Hey, that's Veronica Mars."
And it actually was. It's a show full of wonderful actors, and she really held her own.
I don't think I've ever seen Joss be SUCH a fanboy before. I'm sure he has, but I can't remember (except maybe over the cast of Firefly).
I can't remember the details, and my Googling abilities seem to have left me, but there will be a "switch off" date when everything will go from analog to digital.
But I think that's just broadcast TV. The change is being forced by the FCC. I don't think that cable is required to switch over to digital (although they might do so on their own).
It sounds like Comcast in my town has a bunch more channels non-digital than elsewhere, but then Somerville is a two-cable-system town (RCN is the competitor) so that may affect what they offer and how they offer it.
At any rate, I've got digital, as part of my cable/internet package, but this is going to hurt a number of fans that I know....
OTOH, maybe I can get them to come over to my house for Friday night viewings.... ::plots::
I finally watched Alias. I got the 1st disc from Netflix.
Wow. I don't know why I haven't been watching the show from the beginning. I can't remember why I resisted. I had to send the disc back right away so I can see the end to the cliffhanger.
Well, if they are attempting to get their stations all over to digital than doing one at a time seems a little bit ridiculous and JUST at the point at which Sci Fi is getting critical acclaim and increased attention for BSG. . . the timing seems suspicious.
Gateworld's editorial about the change.
OK, I read all that article and it looks like cable providers have to switch too. Didn't know that....

In a show full of upsetting things, what happened to Flora (Kristen Bell's character) is one that keeps coming back to haunt me. Oh, and that stuff with Alice Krige in early S2. *shudders*
I think Destina wrote some Seth/Sol. Haven't read them myself, but it's Des, so I assume they're good.
