Which makes no sense, having 50 officers Sun in the fleet, but whatev.
As opposed to how many "Lieutenant Smiths" in the US Army?
William ,'Conversations with Dead People'
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Or check out all the "foosdattir" entries in the Reykavik phonebook. Matrilineal doesn't mean unique, by a long shot.
Was he? I don't think he had a rank; I think he was more of a slave than an actual Peacekeeper.
He doesn't have to have a title to be in the hierarchy, nor even be a peacekeeper. Slave is a definite position, and one which would mandate observance of titles, I think.
The Reykjavik phone book pretty much organizes itself by first name for that reason.
Not to get all spoily, but the social structure of native PKs is such that one Sun is probably related to another. And, there are lots and lots and lots of them. And, a serious shortage of names.
I don't understand -- when you say matronymic is a problem, do you mean they're more screwed than a patronymic society? I don't get how that's a big deal.

I can't follow you into the spoily zone, but the same is true of Cohens. There are a hell of a lot of them, but they're still closely genetically related.
I haven't met Harvey, or Jool.
You win some, you lose some.
I taped an episode once, a couple of years back. Jool was what put me off making any more serious effort to catch the show.
FWIW, Jool did get a little better.
I don't remember what my key point was. Except that Too Many Suns, in a group that identifies members solely by last name, was a crappy idea. If you're doing a forced breeding experiment anyway, why not give the kids unique number last names or something?
Way to make HR's job harder than it already is!
