Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Hell, episode 1 the patient was slashing them. And lo, Fay did love the show.
...ah, Poly Recs. Good old Poly Recs, bringing the fic, just as hoped.
For the Jack/Daniel fans, Destina wrote a really beautiful little story that goes a little AU from Moebius part 1. Desert Light. Yum.
To me, it's not humorous buffoonery so much as it is an attempt to control things that cannot be controlled, and no one recognizes it."
No, I think he's really a buffoon. I just don't get the McKay love.
I just don't get the McKay love
It's like the Wesley love, and the House love, and the Snape love, I think. Clever, side order of clever, lots of extra clever sprinkles, huge helping of arrogance about the aforementioned cleverness, underlying insecurity/damage, snark, more snark, extra snark sauce to hide the insecurity/damage, all served on a shiny big platter'o'slash. Ruthlessness optional, but heart definitely 25 carat gold.

...and this is why I am a Fannish Outlier.
I don't recall all that much Wesley love until after he became less buffoonish.
Which is to say, I have little patience for intentional assholery, which Snape and (from description--I haven't seen the show) House are all about, and Rodney sinks into on a semi-regular basis. (Wes is a nutcase, and I had to let go of my Wesley-love once he kept Justine in the closet, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who gets a thrill from hurting people if he doesn't have to.)
Pretty sure this is a case of Not My Beautiful Cake.
Yeah. I was going to defend, and then I thought, why bother. It's not like I'll change anyone's mind.
