You know, I love the look that Helo give Kara as they get ready to drive off in her truck. Like he can't believe that she's really there.
Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Oooh, Abyss. And Frozen! Which I've never seen! And yes, I know it's bad. But I want to see it.
A bit late: I guess that's tomorrow, unless I go back to Dr. Who...
So, if I had a chance to buy Seasons 1 through 7 of SG1 on DVD as a job lot for a fraction of their normal selling price, I should do it, right?
...or should I get Seasons 1 through 9 of X Files instead?
or Seasons 1 - 7 of BtVS? (I have 1-5 on video, but I've pretty much moved into DVD now.)
I don't think I can really justify buying more than one bunch of videos. And Seasons 1-5 of AtS would be silly, since I already have 1 and 2.
or 1 - 5 of Babylon 5?
I'm thinking it really should be SG1, XF or B5, because I should get a fandom I only know partially and get familiar with canon in viewing order. And I'm tempted towards SG1 because that's what I'm reading at present (well, PegB and SGA, and I know I've got SGA waiting for me at home). But if I got X Files, I'd be able to enjoy catching up on all the X Files fic I haven't read. And I'd get to see the Krycek storylines, which I've pretty much missed. 'Cept The Kiss, which I happened upon randomly one day a little while after getting into slash. (Now THAT was funny. "Gosh, there's a lot of UST here! Damn, I've really been reading too much of that slash stuff, ha ha, because to my pr0n-corrupted eyes this totally looks like they're going to jump each other, and clearly they aren't going to - OMFG!!! HE KISSED MULDER!!! WTF???") And the stuck-in-a-Russian-prison-and-getting-his-hand-chopped-off bit. But that's about it. And I'd like to catch up with it...
Ooooh, shit. I see my hard earned cash vanishing into distant memory.
Oh, dear, poor Fay. I don't have an answer for you, since they all have their appeal. Although I have to admit, despite the occasional aubergine issues, XF is in many ways a better show than SG-1. But SG-1 is usually more fun, and gives you more potential for current fannish activities.
ASH is going to be in an episode of the new season of Dr. Who
If you get XF, I'd only go up to Season 5. Seasons 6-9 were almost invariably a total waste of time, IMO. You could tack on the finale just for completion's sake but the rest of it is filler.
I haven't seen all of SG-1 myself, and I know I'm missing some critical mytharc and character eps. At some point I do want to see them just so I understand the fic better.
B5 is great and pretty much self-contained (except for Crusade and the tv movies, but they're not required viewing to "get" the show) - but SG-1 is more relevant to TV that's actually on now, so I don't know.

When you say things like this you make the baby jebuslug cry.
Part of me died when XF turned to shit. I'd hate to see that inflicted on someone else, particularly Fay - she's good people.

I agree, although there were scattered gems in S6. Notably, the one with Bryan Cranston in the fast car -- memfaulting the title -- where he keeps asking to go "just a little bit faster."
One of the old great games was dream-cutting stinkers out of the "real" seasons (1-5), to be replaced with the gems from the "fake" later seasons. I think we can all agree that Space (s1) didn't have a lot going for it.
Weren't Tim's episodes season 6 or beyond. I'm thinking specifically of the Lily Taylor episode which I remember as being a late gem.
