My roommate's going to laugh at me when he sees me using percentile dice to help me decide what my characters do.
I am SO stealing this idea if I get stuck on plot.

Throwing dice couldn't actually hurt, in the case of this story. They're doing stuff I swear I didn't think up. Tina has discovered that the Kraken is sentient, and she may be having sex with it soon, if she can figure out where the correct organs are. Actually, that bit of knowledge may not even be needed. She's creative. Joe is horrified, but then, he usually is. And it's better than being eaten.
Is Kraken sex going too far? Even in a porn-in-space story?
Tentacle sex is a whole genre unto itself, from my understanding. So, not too far, per se.
oh Zenkitty you're having so much more fun than I am. I may have to introduce a kraken just to hold my own interest.
But yeah the dice are really helpful when cranking out words is more important than character motivation.
I don't understand. What dice?
I have a set of percentile dice next to my keyboard. When I get stuck over whether a character is going to do one thing or another I decide which is more likely and roll the dice. It's probably the geekiest possible way to write a story. Also how cool is it that the die in the Wikipedia photograph is actually the one I own?
It's not so much the dice but which table you're rolling on. If you've got some of the old D&D critical hits tables, you can oodles of fun.
I have actually constructed a little arena out of the insert from a router box. But I do have a DMG I could refer to if a battle breaks out.
Like when my uncle had the book that told what happen if say, an elf and a unicorn got into a fight, right?
Laga, rolling dice sounds like a fun way to write a story. It's like one of those stories where you get to pick different outcomes and see what happens.
Although it is true, Kraken are always amusing.
