I like money better than people. People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and/or services!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Because I need to vent about this somewhere:

As an editor in the technology industry/field/war/whatever it's currently being called, I shouldn't be saying this, but I don't care. I do not consider "passive voice" to be a horrible sin in technical writing. Yes, it should be avoided, but sometimes the most important thing is the clarity of the documentation, not the writing style. Can the reader easily and quickly understand what they need to do? Great! If not, there is a problem.

I feel much better for having said that.

Passive voice is not of the devil, sometimes it's just what works best in the situation.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I had this fight about a month ago. What if the focus is not the one performing the action. I suppose I could have worded it awkwardly, but without the passive, it seemed like the paragraph was scattershot.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Challenge #127 (the list challenge) is now closed.

Challenge #128 is a cup of coffee and a piece of pie.

Mmmm. It's never the wrong time for pie.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Here's Irving Berlin's entry:

Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee

Just around the corner,
There's a rainbow in the sky,
So let's have another cup of coffee,
And let's have another piece of pie.

Trouble's like a bubble,
And the clouds will soon roll by,
So let's have another cup of coffee,
And let's have another piece of pie.

Let a smile be your umbrella,
For it's just an April shower,
Even John D. Rockefeller
Is looking for the silver lining!

Mr. Herbert Hoover
Says that now's the time to buy,
So let's have another cup of coffee,
And let's have another piece of pie!

pie

I don't understand the urge to gussie up food. Three-adjective-and-a-noun flavors just strike me as something too afraid to stand up for itself. Prove to me you can make ice cream, give me your best vanilla and stand or fall.

Pie. Apple, hot. No ice cream. No, not even on the side. Cinnamon, apple slices just soft enough to give. Dense, buttery crust.

Lemon merengue. No shavings of anything on top, just the merengue, the lemon, the crust.

Chocolate. Dark, warm, maybe some whipped cream if I'm feeling giddy.

Pie. For some things, a blood sugar spike is worth the cost.
