I've been out of the abbey two days, I've beaten a lawman senseless, I've fallen in with criminals. I watched the captain shoot the man I swore to protect. And I'm not even sure if I think he was wrong.

The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time...

A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

How much time does it take to paint a picture? Sometimes inspiration keeps you up all night, sometimes it's taking a long vacation in napsville. I've given this a great deal of thought, and as hard as I try to churn out 2000 words a night, it just doesn't work that way, for me. I can churn out 6000 in a sitting once a story has my brain in its teeth.

Some writers write on a schedule, and their brains turn on from 2pm to 8pm, some write when the iron is hot. You'll find your own pace and become comfy with it.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Allyson - if I understand your deadline properly you only have to do ~500 words a night (counting from the time you first discovered you were 9,000 short) to make it. Don't know if a tiny fragment every day fits into your style either.

I kinda figured it would be an arbitrary answer -- which is obscurely comforting.

Thanks, Bev! I had fun with this one.

I'm looking forward to the update, Erin. Unfortunatley, after work I have to take my car in to have the brakes looked at. Stoopit car, needing maintenance and shit.

::light bulb pops on--bright!::

Erin, could you send it to my work addy? ellen dot morin at etcconnect dot com? Then I could print it out and take it with me. Yes!

Oh! So weird -- had Buffy dream last night which involved going into a den of Latino vampires, and I remember riding in the back of a truck with her, teaching her gow to say "Donde esta los vampiros?"

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Poetry drabble.

If it wasn’t for poetry, maybe we wouldn’t be together now. Being set up on a blind date is never easy. When we were introduced, we just stared at each other for what felt like forever, but neither of us could think of anything much to say. Luckily, the poetry reading was about to start, and we didn’t have to talk yet. We could sit back, listen, and steal a few, quick glances at each other. When the reading ended we talked for hours, and a few days later, an e-mail arrived with a poet’s name in the subject heading.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

His affectionate name for it was Tree Killer

Heh. Was that Tad's To Green Angel Tower? The one the Jamaican guy in the queue at the London bookstore was ranting got him hit with excess baggage charges?

I'm with Allyson. I can't write to a goal that's based on math. It's about telling the story the way it wants to be told, and letting it out when it wants out.

Always Anti-fascist!

Sometimes I have to say "Ok, gonna try for 500 words today." Lately, do not make it very much.
