What? She killed 'em with mathematics. What else could it have been?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Congratulations, Allyson! I'm sure your agent will walk you through the contract hoodoo, so don't let that scare you too much. (I used to be able to recite some of the basic author-contract language, and it's designed to be intimidatingly exact and ominous. But really, it's designed to protect both parties.)

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Rushed straight to the thread to say, CONGRATULATIONS, ALLYSON!!! Whoo-freaking-hoo!

Party! Enjoy the moment. You deserve it. You worked crazy hard for this, and you're a damn fine writer, and now the world is a luckier place because it gets to read your stuff.

Always Anti-fascist!

Go, Allyson! And thank God for Buffistas, where I can hear stuff like that, and not think "Damn. I'm a better writer than *that* bitch!"

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

another challenge drabble.

Dress, 1972

"Almost done."

The girl tucks coffee-brown lace into intricate darts. The dress once rustled around the ankles of an early Edwardian lady. Today, the sempstress at Open Thursday in Sausalito is remaking it on me, for me. It's a present from N.

"I love the buttons." He does, too. I can vouch for how much he likes undoing them. "Let's have a look."

We stand side by side in front of the mirror. "Gordon Bennett," he grins. "You look so prim."

I think about later, him undoing all those buttons, and I shiver. "Prim"? That's not the word I'd choose.
