You came to me. Unbelievable, yeah? I issued the invite on the radio, and after everything? You came back.
I never played a better gig. After the show, burning, sod the band's limo, not sharing you. Back to my room at the Miyako, and I'm burning for you, just bloody burning, but you're so young, virginal, so easily broken, and I don't want to scare you.
Blue velvet, that dress, with a million buttons at the back, you naked under it. I undo every button, before you remember the zipper.
Yeah, sod the zipper.

In 1984, that was my most favorite song in all the world. Even more than that woman singing in German that made me feel like I was really cool and in on something. It wasn’t the same sort of thing that was going on for Romeo and Juliet or Samson and Delilah, though. I could just tell, even though I’d only seen not-family kisses in the movies. I could feel it in the way my own body flushed as the song would start to play, and the way I’d get embarrassed when my brother teased me about my fondness for it, because it wasn’t a day that summer until I heard “Fire” once.
I got the earworm when the challenge came out.(Although it was pleasant for an earworm.)
erika, was it Bruce's version, or another, that was your version of the song?

And heh - the song was the first thing that came into my head, but I already wrote my drabble about Bruce, Wembley 1981, and that song...
