Ouch. Good one, Deb.
The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time...

Man, there are some genuine corkers in here. Teppy picked a good one, you bet.
GUESS WHO MADE THE SEMIFINALS OF A PRESTIGIOUS ROMANCE WRITING CONTEST!
Susan! Kewl! Which one?
The Denver RWA chapter's--it's called the Molly. They're unusual in that they have a semifinals. Most contests just send the top 3-5 first round scorers to the final round judge. In this one you have two first round judges, and the top 30% or so make the semifinals, where you're guaranteed published judges. But I've usually been closer to the middle of the pack, so just knowing I'm in the top ten or twelve in what's considered a tough contest feels good.
Excellent!
Go Susan!
blood
I wake up, swallowing something bitter. Sitting up, red spills out into my cupped hands, then continues in spurts timed to my pulse.
I know what that means.
Not-Yet-Hubby takes me to the ER. Nine hours later I'm having my right sinus cavity packed to force the ruptured artery closed. I've already lost over a pint of blood. It'll be surgery to cut off that artery completely if this doesn't work.
Hubby-To-Be looks nauseous. "I thought blood didn't bother you," I say woozily.
"It does when it's mine."
He got a sympathetic nosebleed?
My blood is his.
