It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Kara=cute.

t waves at Fay

I'm in the midst of a vicious carpal tunnel flareup that somehow spread all the way to my elbows and shoulders (which means it's probably not really CTS anymore, but anyway, it hurts). It's been a mild annoyance for weeks, but I did something to it picking up Annabel this morning, and after I made the mistake of ignoring it through three LJ posts and an attempt at a fourth, my arm just kinda quit on me. Almost any attempt at moving my right shoulder or picking up anything moderately heavy (like the resident outsized 11-month-old) hurts.

I know I shouldn't type much, and this is the first time I've been near a computer in four hours. My hivemind question is whether or not I should be attempting to expand my range of motion through gentle stretching of if that'll make it worse. 'Cuz I need my arm back sooner rather than later. Monday would be nice.

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

Susan, Can you get someone to gently squeeze along your shoulder and down your arm? Is it numb and tingly? You could have compressed the brachial plexus nerves anywhere from spine to fingers. If you've been typing quite a lot, I recommend a tennis ball or something similar to gently rub near your elbow for the flexor and extensor tendon attachments. (Go across the inside and outside of your elbow horizontally, not vertically down arm - it'll clear the area out better.) Try to stretch out your neck to the other side, as well as try to stretch your pecs on the affected side. I would probably rest tonight, and maybe even ice if there's swelling, and then try some range of motion and gentle stretching tomorrow. You might also like to take your favorite NSAID - aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.

That's what I'd do for my massage clients.

Thanks, d. I'll rest it tonight as best I can and try those stretches/massages.

I'm sorta here. My arm is feeling some better, though I wouldn't want to type a term paper or lift weights or anything.

I've always wanted to try a Cadbury Creme Egg, and have never managed to do this successfully.

Also, I'm terribly, terribly upset that Parker didn't make it, but I'm much more concerned for her knee health. Please get better soon, Parker. And try to come out here again soon.

If I can ever get the cash, I'll try and head your way, too.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I adore Creme Eggs. They are the best thing about the Easter candy aisle at Walmart.

Thrive to spite them

The make chocolate filled Creme Eggs, which are my favorite.

Last night we had our second major storm/tornado watch -- there was one on Friday as well. Instead of getting out in that mess I stayed over at Mom's. I didn't bring enough medicine to last two days, and as a result I got about an hour's sleep last night.

The next time I see my shrink I'm going to ask him about this dependence on the medicine for sleep. Not that I need to be skipping meds and at this point I plan to be on the same meds for the rest of my life, unless my body chemistry changes, but it's disturbing not to be able to sleep at all.

I think my Easter is going to contain a long nap.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

My ass is your ass, vw. I caved to the crack

Obviously I'm reading this thread way too late in the evening to make sense of it.

I've always wanted to try a Cadbury Creme Egg, and have never managed to do this successfully.

I used to crave the creme eggs. My time in America seems to have cured me of it. They're still an acceptable snack, once in a awhile, but I don't go out of my way for them.

Nando's, OTOH...
