Around here, the one bath would knock down the price. Also, "Some of the original 1919 charm is intact" may refer to the HVAC system and wiring.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
susan, what Betsy said.
Our old house was built in '23 and had been renovated a couple of times. This one was built in 1919, that might be part of it, may need some updating -- although old houses seem sturdier than new ones sometimes. It might also be that the owners are relocating and need to sell fast? It's a cute house though.
Hmm. It's not the best neighborhood in Seattle, but there really aren't any bad neighborhoods within the city limits by normal urban standards, IMO. And anything West Seattle is a little out of the way for someone who's gotten used to living where we do. We'd be closer to the ballpark but much further away from everything else. Lot might be tiny, and it wouldn't surprise me if it needs some not immediately obvious work and a good seismic retrofit.
But still. It's tempting.
I just can't figure out why it's going for that cheap. I mean, it's not falling down, and it's not a tacky ugly condo. Hellmouth in the basement?
It's in a neighborhood that's improving, but still not great.
The rough draft of the book is done
Yay! Double Yay! See, you can do it!
Does the front match the back, plotwise? Mine doesn't.
I went ahead and emailed the link to DH just in case he wants to gently remind his mother she helped his brother with his down payment.

Good point. When we were house-shopping, I saw an absolute charmer in Menlo Park. We were seriously considering it, and then we realized that it would be impossible to add a second bathroom. The combination of the lot layout and where the garage was mean that it would always be a one-bathroom house.
Not good with kids.

Well, not by Chicago or DC standards, but there are neighborhoods with fairly high crime rates and a severe lack of city services. That's one of them. It is, I should stress, improving fairly rapidly.
In late 2000, a similar house would have gone for about $139k.
