I just finished my "review" of the poetry slam I went to Friday night. I think it's pretty good. It's an open assignment...we could do it any time this semester. I'm glad to be getting it out of the way early on, 'cause I'm sure things will just keep getting crazier as the semester goes on.

Cashmere, your mom is in my thoughts and prayers, and so are you (and poor sick Christopher, and Owen too--just because he's Owenicious).

I totally agree. I've noticed a few other differences as well. One of them is my great desire for feedback...on everything that I do for school. I was telling this story to Hec yesterday. We handed in our first poetry assignments for creative writing about two weeks ago. Right before we handed them in one of my classmates told me that she hoped she got a check-plus and no comments from the professor, because she was sick of working on the poem and didn't want the feedback. I'm the complete opposite of that (although I was still thrilled to get a check-plus). Even if I decide not to revise a particular assignment, I can use that feedback on other things that I do later. I'm a feedback whore, really.

vw, I feel much the same way you do about feedback. I like to know what worked in a piece and what didn't. I'm always disappointed when feedback focuses on the mechanical aspects of things and doesn't go into what the reader liked/didn't like about the piece.

ION, today is a painting day! No temp work this week, which is nice since it's all snowy here this morning.
