[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Up with the sun

It's all about posing, darling. Everybody's in some kind of drag

Yeah, but there's knowing that intellectually, and then there's knowing that in a way that lets you go to the mall in full Victorian mourning dress. I'm good with the former, the latter NSM.

It's about self-confidence, I think, and that's never been one of my defining qualities. (And actually, I think Stephanie's a little braver than I am -- I've seen her link to stuff on Torrid that I couldn't wear.)

I look more rad than Lutheranism

You know how I feel about posing. I keep flogging the dead horse of Authenticity.

I need to break you of that. And I will. I will break you.

Should I have heard that in a Boris Badenov accent? Because I did.

Also -- nevah gonna happen, my friend.

(And actually, I think Stephanie's a little braver than I am -- I've seen her link to stuff on Torrid that I couldn't wear.)

But I don't actually buy/wear everything I link to. Most of what I link to is stuff that I like, but it doesn't always (or doesn't *often*) end up in my closet.

See, that completely makes sense. I'm not sure why I thought clothes people linked to were clothes they bought (or would buy, was money infinite) but I did.

And now I'm playing on the Torrid site. Most of the Spring stuff is boring, ugly or both, but I do like this blouse and this skirt.

Oooh, Lyra Jane -- I like both of those! (And I agree -- the theme for Spring clothing seems to be Bright and Ugly. Or possibly Ugly and Bright.)

What is even happening?

Susan, many prayers for your dad, your family, and you.

askye, I'm glad your dad had the composure to call 9-1-1. Thank goodness. Many prayers for him, and all y'all, too.

Lisa Loeb is HAWT.

That's pretty funny to me Aimee, not that's she's not. I agree she is. But when you first started posting at WXing, and had a user picture up, I think you put me in mind of her. She puts me very much in mind of my college roommate.

being That Age, all of one's elders are That Age, too. :-/
Yep. And it pretty much sucks.

Electromagnetic candy! - Stark

Not to be a downer, but I am a goth, and the son of a mortician (the father I don't talk to) and a psych nurse (a lesbian I do speak to), so I have to be a downer, sometimes.

Alfredo's dad had a heart transplant last year because of a massive MCI (no, not a huge phone network) the year before.

I lost my last 2 grandparents in the last year and a half (they were exactly one year and one week separated from each other).

Said lesbian mom has had a double mastectomy to head the "pre-cancerous lumps" off at the pass (so far, so good - her health is pristine (for a 61-year-old) and her state of mind is brilliant, if idiosyncratic.)

I think I've absorbed all the ookiness of That Age for a lot of people, so the PTB can just leave off, m'kay? They can just put down the age-related syndromes and step away from peoples' loved-ones.

A cranky Alex is a loud, crude thing, and when it's paired with "friends hurt?" it turns into alex-hulk (which is cute and non-terrifying in all my FIVE-FOOT-SIX-NESS!).

But yes, "Alex Smash!" with domokun-arm-flailings and fizzgig-mouth-waggling.

Edited for spelling, since I'm running on 3 hours' sleep, a day's work, and caffiene. Ow, my head.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I kind of like the Spring clothes this year, lots of flowy skirts and blouses in cuts that look good on me.

{{{{{askye and family}}}}} Much ~ma to your dad and the rest of you.

{{{{{{{Susan}}}}}} Much ~ma to your dad and your family.

And so want Bravo to bump the QE spinoff for The Jilli Show. (ding dong) "I'm your Fairy Gothmother."

This would be cool, and I also want a goth makeover. I already have the extra pale skin.

Teppy makes a foamy goth.

I'm thinking 1950s sexpot red.

Plei, do you have a good suggestion of who makes this color? Preferably one that doesn't wipe off or smudge too easily.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Aww, Teppy, look what's happening at the Super Deco Egyptian Theater in LA tomorrow. That's right. Gendy Tartakovsky tribute with Samurai Jack on the big big screen.
