Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Absolutely it does.

Now tagless for your comfort.

{{{Cindy}}} Strength to you and your family.

Didja tell them Victoria wasn't even born yet when P&P was published?

Heh. Yup. I think that might have bothered me almost as much as it bothered you, Susan. It was the last line of the review and my mouth just fell open.

Here's the text of my letter:

Dear Editor,
Hope Madden may want to take a refresher course on either European History or English Literature.
Jane Austin lived from 1775-1817. She died two years before Queen Victoria was born. Her works, including Pride and Prejudice (published in 1813), were written during what is commonly referred to as the Regency Period in England, when King George III fell ill and his son, the Prince of Wales ruled in his stead.
Just because the people talk funny and wear fancy dresses in a book doesn't mean it's Victorian.

Sincerely,
Me

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

“The truth is, Dad is more important than Mom. Mothers make boys. Fathers make men.

I'm going to have to let Nick in on this. He doesn't know he's a gay boy. Poor creature.

If I only had a brain...

"Austen". It's the Law: always one misspelling in a snark.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Has this "how to raise straight boys / how to keep women womenly and feminine and non-sporty" thing always been around but we're seeing more of it now because of the internet? Or is getting worse in the last decade? And if it is getting worse, is it a reaction against the increasing acceptance of homosexuality and feminist values (even if few women call themselves feminist) or is our culture truley lurching towards conservative Christian values?

Too tired to think about it myself....

Oh wait - it's all Sporty Spice's fault!

What is even happening?

The answer to all these questions is yes.

Everyone overreacts to everyone else, and they're all in a tizzy and trying to bring us with them.

Once I am recognized as supreme ruler, EVERYONE will take daily naps, at least one, and possibly as many as four, and will have mandatory snack breaks.

I did not click on those links, for I was feared my brain would go 'splodey. My ex's second wife was convinced my son was going to be gay because he liked to play with dolls (at age 4.) He's getting married next month. I don't think reading those articles would satisfactorily explain anything.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Kristin has a new tag, and Lee has a new name.

Heeey, would anyone be willing to take a look at the talk I have to give next Friday? Like, go through the slides and read what I'm supposedly going to say once I memorize it? And tell me whether it's clear enough? It's probably better if you have some science background, or else you'll be lost as all living fuck. I'm almost done rewriting.

Always Anti-fascist!

I suck, even at adaptive sports, and still manage to be disorderly as fuck.I believe it's my nature. (although next time around, would like fighting skills.) I just watched "Finding Neverland" the only thing I've ever seen that even came close to being like it was "Shadowlands" and not quiteETA: Cindy, best of health to you and your family...watched Mom white-knuckle off the cigs...NEVER EVER wanted to smoke ever. But she did okay, though, being The Stubbornest Woman Ever. I think Mom and I both like to ogle Johnny Depp, just as we're a little competitive over ASH. I get Spike though, because Mom's generous. I think Spring fashions are either a. Trampy.b. Cowgirlish. So if I have to put on Hip Hop Oklahoma I'm in like Flynn. Otherwise, nsm. Seriously, every top? Made me look at my mom and say "Is that a shirt or one of those cami things?" Because, my God, I should put Saran on the girls and save time!(Don't everybody post at once how I'd look good like that...)
