Xander: Hey, Red. What you got in the basket, little girl? Buffy: Weapons.

Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

but I wish men had fabulous men's clothing comparable to Victoriana.

Surely there are ascots and pocket scarves and uh...doodads and. Uhm. gewgaws?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If I only had a brain...

And smoking jackets. Never forget the smoking jacket.

Aw, you are all so sweet. As for why I didn't come here sooner...it's not so much a matter of not listening to Jilli, as it is me just...not remembering. Not so much forgetting, but I tend to lose things like names, or addresses, or birthdays, if I don't act on them immediately/write them down. I mean, I roomed with my friend Wendy (Magz, my Evil Overlordly Assistant/Henchman) for over 8 years, and I still can't remember her birthday. I've been in a relationship with my PARTNER for 3 years, and I can't remember *his* birthday.

So...while there are times I don't listen to Jilli because she's asking for an arc welder again (a thousand times NO!), this wasn't one of them. I'm just old, and senile, and unless it pertains to Tolkien, or Star Wars, or Firefly, or West Wing, or Fading Suns, or FarScape...I probably won't remember.

Back to the original topic - ooo, Victorian *uniforms*. Yes, I forgot about those. Not as gaudy and costume-like as Sgt. Pepper's marching band stuff, but yes...*yes*. And there are always more Infernal Devices that need to be manufactured, so reverting to Evil Overlordness is a very good thing.

Postscript: there's a beautiful steampunk adventure novel by KW Jeter called "Infernal Devices" I heartily recommend. Clockwork Paganinis and church-choirs, half-selkie ladies-of-the-evening in Victorian London, and a plan to blow up the earth to get the attention of Martians, like a large firework.

Jilli, take note.

Oooh, and here's me going to Powell's Books this weekend ...

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Rumors that I choose the branch of service and regiment for the heroes of my somewhat pre-Victorian stories based on whether I think the uniforms are sexy are....entirely true.

Jilli, I meant, "Take note of the Next Infernal Device - the clockwork harmonic destabilizer, that is," not "Take note of the book."

You see what kind of help I'm saddled with? Girls who Giggle and Blow Things Up. *facepalm*

I look more rad than Lutheranism

beautiful steampunk adventure novel

I think I've asked this question before, but if I did, I obviously don't rememebr the answer: what's steampunk? Is it like cyberpunk? Or am I assuming that all things that end in -punk are alike?

Well, I need more details about it. Which I can get from the book, right? Besides, a clockwork harmonic destablilizer sounds like it would need tools ... power tools ... an arc welder ...
