Laura, are you near Orlando? Just wondering since I may be in that neck of the woods in a few months.

If it's leaking from the bottom, probably the liner has rusted through so it needs replacing. Water heaters, depending on the size, range from $200 to $500, so that prices is probably not really out of line. Check with them about what kind of water heater they're putting in. If you can choose, you want one that's as energy-efficient as possible. That way, at least your water-heating bills will be a bit lower.

{{GC}} Sorry about the bad morning. If it makes you feel a tiny bit better, I'm finally warming up to So Jealous.
Yay! I knew you would :)
ETA: Thanks for the info, Ginger. I'll be sure to ask.
Laura, are you near Orlando?
2-1/2 hours south of Orlando. It is a drive I know well. If you can't get my way I'll be sure to F2F in Orlando. YaY!
If you can wait until I get to work, I can get you a very precise definition.
Thank you, Lee. Right now, I say "Yes please," and if my friend's already found an answer or gone to the meeting, I'll let you know, so you don't eat up your time.
Thanks to you too, Hec.
Even apart from sexual harassment, I'll note that proving a hostile work environment is difficult to document. However, I'll also note that a lot of companies will settle rather than go to court.
Hec is right in this. It's easier to prove in CA than it is in other states, but it is still harder to prove than "she told me I had to sleep with her if I wanted a promotion."
Gotcha. I will pass that along as well.
See, aren't you glad Lee's around?
Always, even when we're just gronking at each other.
The kids were sick before I was and my wife so far is okay.
Oh, your poor family. I hope you can take it easy on yourself while you regain your strength.
Perhaps I shouldn't have jumped on my energy-efficiency hobby horse, but it's always sitting there. I write a monthly column on saving energy for a utility.
Not at all, Ginger. I'm on board :)
Does anyone have one of those tankless water heaters? I like the sound of those things, but I don't know how well they actually work or how much they cost.
I don't have a tankless water heater, but I've had to do a lot of research on them. They work well if you can put them close to the point of use. For example, they're good if you have a bathroom at the end of the run from the hot water heater and find that the water never stays hot enough. Unless you live alone, the problem with using one as a whole-house water heater is that there's a direct relationship between the water flow and how hot the water can get, since it's passing through a heating element. Therefore, if there's a lot of demand for hot water, the water temperature tends to be lower.
