vw, I think he was trying to say that you do better work if you don't have to take an incomplete--nothing more and nothing less. It's up to the professor to decide what you "deserve." Sometimes you'll get a higher grade than you think you deserve and sometimes a lower one. Your job is to do the best work you can at that particular time. That may not be the best work you're capable of, but sometimes the stars just don't align to allow that.

Ginger is very wise.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What Ginger Said.

Is this the same prof who tried to discourage you from taking incompletes in the first case (wasn't there one)? In addition to what Teppy said, could it be that this prof has his own issues with incompletes?

No, that was a different prof. I don't think this one has issues with incompletes, but who knows. I do trust his judgement. I knew the exam wasn't good, but I thought the paper was. So, that was a little disappointing. I know that not everything I write is going to be the best thing I've ever written, but it was still disappointing to hear him say there was a noticable difference.

What is even happening?

Were the exam and paper the best you could have done at that time, and under those circumstances? If so, let it go. If not, you still let it go, because not only is it over, you've passed. You are going back to school primarily to learn, and also, to get a degree. You are learning. No one is always on--not even the most together people. Everyone has down times and off times. You accomplished the job. You've learned things you didn't know before. You've exercised some inborn skill, and you've passed.

All of that is a big old YAY!

Ah, but there's a big difference between "noticeable difference" and "pond scum." I think it's inevitable that you lose some of the momentum and insights from the class when doing an incomplete. It got you through another semester, which is the really important part.

Thanks, guys. This is just what I needed.

ION, I'm a big fat geek. In my other open window, I'm researching a topic for no other reason than to research it for fun. I could go do some reading, but this is more fun.

Punishingly Intricate

Two night-terror-free nights in a row!

Hope that keeps up! Poor baby.

I still get night terrors. I had them several nights in a row last week. I don't really remember having them when I was a kid but I'm sure I did...plus lots of nightmares. But, in spite of that, I've pretty much always been a really good sleeper for what it's worth. And now whenever I get a night terror I start singing "Night Terrors, Night terrors. Wish I didn't get 'em" to the tune of "Night Fever" and that usually dissipates the terrifying aspect.

I have a cold that won't go away and it's making me very very cranky and whiny and just as dumb as toast. wah!

Always Anti-fascist!

You know they don't have to dig everything you do, right, vw? I mean, we're bitches, we expect a certain amount of adulation, but, you know...some mortals don't get our Bitchly fabulous. If he wasn't a mentor, I'd say "Fuck him." but I know what it's like to really want somebody's good opinion. But you don't NEED it, sweetie. Irony, table for one.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The sweater I just bought from Overstock.com smells funny. At least I'm hoping it's the sweater.
