I grill aspsagus the same way and just eat it plain.
I used to hate most veggies, but I've developed a taste for almost all of them over the past 10 years.
Except asparagus. I may yet develop a taste for it, but it takes extraordinary garnishment to get me to eat asparagus. (Hollandaise sauce, for instance, which is not the healthiest of choices.)
Mmmm. Hollandaise sauce. DH made me steak Oscar last week. It was soooo good.
Teppy--sugar snap peas. Yummy with no garnish and not acidy.
I understand the veggie hate, I'll only eat raw tomatoes if they are in salsa. Otherwise no dice.
I love all vegetables except rutabagas and English peas. Even peas could probably be salvaged with hollandaise sauce. Rutabagas, nsm.
According to [link] (PDF file): One-half cup of green soybeans (edamame)count as 1 serving of vegetables or as 1 oz of lean meat.
Mmm, grilled asparagus.
And congratulations, vw, what a lovely e-mail.
(eta: you know what I do for a living? Type.)
Asparagus is the most meh of vegetables. Other veggies, I like or dislike. Asparagus I'm completely indifferent to. I'll eat it if it's put in front of me, but I can't work up a dredge of enthusiasm. I'd say it's the rice cake of vegetables, except I like rice cakes.
All you asparagus haters are crazy with a capital crazy. It's got a short season, but when it's in, it's the tastiest thing around.
I know you said you must have vinager with greens -- but spinach with a bit of soy sauce and sesame oil ( and sesame seeds) sooo goood.
