things accomplished today
- breakfast at the cafe
- walk
- some of the weeds pulled in the side yard ( 1/2 hour to fill the green can)
- went to the hardware store to buy two things, but they had a sale - fit what you can in this paper sack and get 20% off. spent 80 dollars at the 100 dollar store.
- threw a bunch of grass seed on the ground.
- caught up in natter and bitches.
I slept until 3pm today. So I've accomplished waking up and eating some breakfast so far. I'm proud of myself.
Jen, have you gotten any fun mail?
Happy Birthday, Beverly! And Happy Anniversary, Lori and Kat!
Mr.H bought me a shuffle. He lives in a gold Sephora bag (the shuffle, not Mr H), and he needs a name. I love him very much (both the shuffle and Mr. H).
Happy anniversary to Kat and Lori, and may the day come soon when the rescinding of their wedding is rescinded and the whole damn country recognizes their marriage as just exactly that.
And happy birthday, Beverly!
And, once again, Susan is me. That entire post about the fear of death, the tiny-child battles against sleep, the doubts and fears and weird certainties and proofs that would convince no one else but convince and nourish her -- I'm sitting here being all Bill Murray in
Groundhog Day,
nodding and saying, "Me... me... me... It's eerie!"
Plus, I've been thinking about Puddleglum in
The Silver Chair
ever since Jen posted her question the other day.
Things I've accomplished today:
- Dishes
*More dishes
*Taking out the recycling
*Taking Emmett's temperature approximately fifty times
*Sweeping the kitchen and hallway floors
*Degreasing the truly ghastly food-crusted stove
*Mending a vintage dress
*Fixing a hat
*Getting started on making another hat
In a bit I'll call my friend to check in with her, because I keep thinking about her rattling around her now half-empty home on a rainy Saturday alone with her thoughts, and it makes me fretful for her. I am also contemplating taking a shower at some point, but it's already past 2:30. And later there is
Duck Soup
to look forward to, which is not only one of the funniest things in all of human history but (to bring it back around to something vaguely resembling the eschatology/where does it all end?/what is it all for? discussion) was the thing that jolted Woody Allen's character out of his existential-crisis tailspin in
Hannah And Her Sisters.
Lastly, vw so rocks with the paper-writing.
Jen, have you gotten any fun mail?
I have not; I did, however, get a phone call from my old landlord saying that someone had sent me a package and that I should call her and come pick it up.
My powers of deductive reasoning are telling me that the package is from you. Now I'm all excited!

Wow, thanks! I'm always glad not to be the only one.
Things I've accomplished so far today:
-Got up
-Showered
-Emailed a client (not to be confused with The Client, the one I wanted to kill yesterday)
-Taken care of baby as needed
-Figured out where DH and I are going for dinner tonight
Things I need to accomplish in next three hours:
-Clean house to minimally acceptable standard for babysitter
Things I need to do by the end of the day tomorrow:
-Put together rough draft of grant application for The Client. Point out lack of information he was supposed to send me four days ago.
-Try to get 4 more pages or so done on The Novel.
-Laundry
-Groceries

Oh, shit! I'm sorry that it went to the wrong address. Well...hopefully you'll have it soon.
