I have given up all computer games for Lent.
At least you weren't silly enough to give up CHOCOLATE. What on earth was I thinking?
Thought of the day: Picking the chocolate chips out of the cannoli filling in a nice restaurant tends to get you a few strange looks, which then leads to mumbled explanations of how it's Lent and chocolate is what you've chosen to forego, followed by armpats, a chorus of "Well, aren't you a good girl!" and an espresso chaser.

That's a painful one, Maria, especially considering all the Valentine's chocolate, everywhere.

Hee. This is my first Lent in proximity to Catholocism. I stil have no burning need to repent, or anything...BUT I have to stop myself from making the sign of the cross when my kids do morning and afternoon prayer.
It's so weird! They are snagging me with their lulling repetitive motions! Seriously, though, it's a fantastic classroom management technique -- if the class is rowdy in the beginning, all you have to do is have a kid start a "Hail Mary" and they all quiet down and follow suit.
I only realized it was Good Friday today when people started mentioning that they'd be out of the office tomorrow. It's going to be a dead zone here, which either means I'll be insanely busy or I'll have all day to stack cats in peace.
This is my first Lent in ages where I haven't given up a single thing.
Well, except maybe my brain, which remains AWOL.
At our first childbirth class last night, they told us that labor burns 750 calories an hour.
Dude.
My mind boggles.

Good Friday isn't until March 25th. It's President's Day weekend though....
Trust me. You'd rather be doing Step-Robics with the perkiest blonde cheerleader EVER.
Jess, it's not. Good Friday is March 25th this year.
It is, however, Presidents Day Weekend, so Paul has Monday off.

So what's tomorrow? Is there another Lent-related Friday? I could swear I heard people saying Good Friday.

I am passing this tidbit on to my MiL, who teaches Latin at a Catholic School. I'm pretty sure she doesn't know about it. And yay Erin on the weight loss, well done!
My secret weapon to resist computer games is that I really suck at them. I try to play a few times and get my zero or close to it score and get frustrated and stop playing.
Sympathies for Maria and JZ, y'all have tough rows to hoe the next few weeks.
