Mal: So we run. Nandi: I understand, Captain Reynolds. You have your people to think of, same as me. And this ain't your fight. Mal: Don't believe you do understand, Nandi. I said 'we run'. We.

What is even happening?

Talked to her this morning, Cindy. She sounded REALLY good. They got her up yesterday and she took a few steps. She had a shower this morning and is eating well. I think she will be going home by Saturday. At least I have my fingers crossed.
That's so great to hear. Are you going to visit, this weekend?

Lee, my boots do that, with only one particular pair of socks (boots are black, socks are sort of cream colored, and really are emergency socks), and then I have a pair of velour black socks that not only do that, but shed all over the floor. I don't actually know how the socks aren't worn out, they shed so bad.

I'm glad you're not injured, at least. Hopefully, it'll wash right off.

This is really wonderful news. I'm glad she's doing so well.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Are you going to visit, this weekend?

We are going up. We've got a dog-sitter and O's little problem seems to be getting better (we're down to two messy diapers a day instead of six). If everything goes well, we'll leave Friday afternoon.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Sorry for the toe scare. Somehow it seemed obvious to me that it was dye related, but then, no coffee=me no talk right.

What is even happening?

Lee, you are in the no-coffee corner far too often for such a good woman. You deserve better. What can we do to address this?

What is even happening?

Ack. Today is ex-roomie's birthday. I didn't get her a card. Must call her. Now. Before I forget.

Find a cabana boy to bring me coffee every morning?

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Cashmere, so glad to hear your mom is doing better.

I have a rush job I have to do, but need to vent first.

The client tells me that he needs a letter to one of his existing clients that will convince her boss (the implication being that she's already convinced) that they need a more expensive service than the one they're currently using. He asks that I take the 40 page standard proposal and boil it down to 3 pages, with research that will support his point. Previously, he told me never to lead with the price.

I get it done at 2 and 3/4 pages. I end with the price.

He just called to tell me me that my research is sound but the letter is much too long, that I should have led with the price, and that it reads like "a marketing piece". He wants it rewritten within the next half hour, taking out all the research and making the research a new document he can enclose, lead with the price and a simple explanation of the service. Oh, but I can give her a 10% discount.

Lee, how's your coffee maker? Is it, perhaps, getting on in life? Lacking the fancy bells and whistles of younger coffeemakers? Is it time for it to head for the old coffeemakers' home for a well-deserved rest?

(Suddenly I feel sorry for the coffeemaker and as though I'm recommending Lee leave her devoted wife for a younger bimbo. Let the record show that I am not. Please?)
