I have a plan.

First it was thunder and lightning and now a slab of water just fell onto the city. I love rainy season in the desert.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Happy Birthday, Beverly!!!

Happy Anniversary, lori and Kat!!!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy Birthday, Benno! 3 - what a big boy.

Emmett's still sick, but I bought him the earlier Marx Brothers box set with Duck Soup and Horse Feathers. He also wanted more Calvin and Hobbes books. When he's conscious he's laughing. Otherwise he's zonking on the couch in a Tylenol Cold and Cough induced haze.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Happy Birthday, Benno and Beverly!

Happy Anniversary, Kat and Lori!

Feel better soon, Emmett!

Now that I'm awake, after sleeping the day away (and I wonder why I have such a hard time getting up on Monday mornings?), I'll get around to answering Alibelle's question from 100+ posts ago:

Neil is still going to have my loyalty, since he's coming all this way and everything. But I have room in my heart for Buzz, too. I already think he has a super cool name, and is nifty. But yeah... what? Is a flat-earther someone who thinks the Earth is flat? And Buzz punched him?

Actually, I first read about it linked from here (I think DXM was the first one to report it)--apparently, a few years ago, Buzz was at some kind of honorary dinner thing, and he was accosted on the street outside by an honest-to-God flat-earther, someone who is convinced that the Apollo landings were filmed on a Hollywood soundstage. Buzz decked him. Yay, Buzz!

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

It'd be weird to have your career based on being irritating, I think.

I'm a journalist, so I think I'm the wrong person to address this statement...

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthday, Benno! Except that it's tomorrow already, where you are, and I missed it. But you have a way cool birthdate--I think, anyway.

I'm glad Emmett's laughing, Hec. Laughter is healing for physical ills as well as emotional ones, I firmly believe.

The birthday was so low-key you wouldn't believe, Cindy. The MIL called to wish me happy, as did StE. StY called pre-emptively yesterday, as he knew he'd be busy and distracted today. Mom remembered while I was saying goodnight to her, too. And DH, who had a hard week and was psyched for chores this weekend, ran out of them. Well, there were more, but I could see him cycling down, and I didn't remind him. We decided on a celebratory lunch at Nawab one day next week, and he napped for a couple of hours, until I woke him because he was snoring so loud on the couch it made me giggle. I sent him off to bed, where he has been sleeping the restorative sleep of the sleep-deprived for two or three hours already.

I did not get my desk clean. In fact, I didn't do jack to it. I may tomorrow. But I culled, trimmed and changed the water in the flowers I got for Valentine's Day, changed and made the bed, put away the clean dishes and washed the dirty ones, put away the paper products from the grocery store, after rearranging the cupboard to make space, scooped and refilled the litterbox, cleaned the toilet and bathroom sink, put away the clean dishes and washed the dirty ones, gathered the trash for taking out and the grocery bags to take back to recycle at the store, relined all the trash baskets and the kitchen can, scooped the litterbox, reheated some pinto beans and had them for supper, made some hot fudge sauce from the cocoa StY gave me for Christmas, had it over Breyers vanilla with the last of the Reddi Whip while I watched decorating shows (Drew! The homeowner on Design Remix was wearing well-worn Utilikilt! The makeover guy liked it so much he was wearing a new one at the end of the show!) and It Takes a Thief on DSC, caught up online everywhere but Bitches, which is up in another tab, shopped desultorily at ebay, put away the clean dishes and washed the dirty ones, and worked on a long, multipage letter to one of my only remaining friends who doesn't have email.

Productive is happy, in my world.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I think I just saw Colin on my teevee. It's very surreal.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What's up, aurelia?

Pretty rainbow picture, Aimée!

Swouncing

Poking head while it's still the 19th in the USA, to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, it was a double Buffista event: both Beverly and Benno (Fiona's son) had a birthday. Oh, and Kat and lori have an anniversary, as well - what a lucky date! So lots of wishes (belated, alas) to them all, of a great year to come.
