I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Generally for that sort of thing you can deduct the amount you paid, minus the value of the item you received. That is, your donation was whatever excess over the regular value of the item that you paid. But yeah, you'd want a receipt.

Plei, I believe so, yes. Didn't you get a receipt from the charity? The Wooten foundation.

I think so, but that was almost a year ago, and I can't recall.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Swiss cheese is rank. RANK, I tell you.

Was there a cute cat convo? I need to give Hec ignoration lessons, because I honestly blocked it.

Eventually there'll be a recursive SBC of "Wouldn't a Life Serial thread be funny?" "Dude." "Totally." "Dare you to take it to b'cacy!"

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, and you may be able to contact the charity to get one. We just sent out our year-end giving summaries, so you might check your mailbox, too, if they had that info.

Well, more a Shit My Pet Does convo, but it was heavily skewed toward felines.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Err, the stuff what was bought at auction at the W&H AR, was that considered a charitable contribution, and therefore something to be entered when doing zee taxes?

Yes it was. If they sent you a letter, I have a copy somewhere at home in a pile of W&H letters. Did you pay by check or cash? It would help me sort it if I knew.

It's not a big deal. I'm probably going to wind up being too lazy to check my suitcase or desk--okay, I can't actually bend to get to the places I might have put it--and it's not enough of a contribution to make a huge difference in my refund this year.

I paid cash. (DX and I had the find-the-ATM adventure, which is why I remember that.)

Previous tax years, I was very organized about my donation receipts. That sort of fell apart in 2004.

(And I think I'm the only person I know who procrastinates by doing her taxes for fun.)

You know, you're right. I'd completely compartmentalised that away.

I just outed my age to a co-worker. I hate how people stare when I do that. My hesitance isn't vanity, it's just discomfort.

I feel all immature now. Nothing like copping to being 36 right on the heels of explaining the Superman-Batman-Spiderman personality theory.

Have I heard this theory?
