I'm here. I may go back to sleep, but I'm here.

Here, too. Off to make coffee right now.
tommyrot, you must listen to me. What you're experiencing is not genuine. You've been fed a drug. It's simulating bliss. All that you're feeling is really just chemical suggestion.
tommyrot, Cindy should know, caffeine companion that she is.
Gronk.
Yes, I've already taught one class today, and am now having coffee. Still gronk.
(It's Starbucks coffee. I feel bad about this, because on the sidewalk nearby is a guy with a coffee cart who's had that sidewalk spot for about 25 years, and he's got his cart all covered with signs about why we should by coffee from him rather than from Starbucks. And I agree with most of his reasons, but I just really can't stand the taste of his coffee.)

Heh. A man cannot drum up business by villifying the competition alone. Gotta think about the actual product being sold too.
(ETA: unless you're Halliburton)
My red line had no delay. Which is a pleasant surprise, because on your average day, it does not nearly take an exploding transformer to slow down service.
Instead of the State of the Union, I watched the tail end of this past year's ALCS game 3, the one where the final score was 19-8. (It was rerun on cable.) I figured, if I'm gonna suffer, I should suffer through something that is legitimately entertainment, right? Also to refresh my memory, since tonight's rerun is game 4, the one that went till 1:22 am, of which (as a consequence of its timing) I saw only like the first 5 innings.
Everybody I've talked to at work had a better-than-usual commute with the Red Line. I took the bus to Lechmere and walked around the Charles River Basin which was at least picturesque and healthy-making, but I feel rooked just the same.
My cat just pulled a book off the bookshelf and is playing with it on the floor. He uses books for toys?
My cat Sophie likes to chew books. Often while I'm reading them.
(Insert your own taste pun here.)

My mom used to have a pet rat that she spoiled beyond all belief. One of the things she did was let him run around in the spare bedroom for about an hour or so every day. Well, because he was a RAT, he liked to be under/behind things, and his favorite spot in the spare bedroom was behind the dresser.
She said that one day she heard this weird noise coming from the spare bedroom, and when she looked, the rat had pulled the Cliffs Notes for The Iliad off the bookshelf and was trying to pull them behind the dresser.
I told her that she shouldn't let him get away with that -- he should read the book like everyone else instead of Cliffs Notes.
