I am a shameful failure at cat stacking. I have yet to make it past level 6. I doubt I ever will. I was never any good at Tetris either. Ah, well, no chance of becoming addicted then.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I just watched Spiderman 2. (I'm making my way through the stack of DVDs that's been sitting on top of my TV for way too long.) That was just neat.
Signing the lease on a new apartment! Whee!
Oooh! Cool!
Okay, I was just wondering. If a person is not very smart but also not shallow, what do they fall in love with in another person? How someone thinks and expresses themself has always been the big attraction for me, and if that's not important to me, what would I go by?
Non-intellectual, non-shallow things that one might find attractive: devotion to family, reliability, work ethic, determination, religious faith, optimism, zest for life, courage...
Great list, Flea! And I realize on reading it that most of those things are important to me, too.

"They killed Superman!"
"Let's get 'em!"
{Not, as I read, Superman II}
After getting my car inspected (finally!) I spent the rest of the day with a 10 month old who thinks I'm pretty damned nifty. Which is saying something since she's in the midst of everyone-is-evil-and-roasts-babies -except-for-my-parents. So we hung out and her parents were able to go out for 5 hours and car shop and eat a restaurant meal all by themselves.
She only got melty starting at 4 (she needed a nap. She hates sleep these days. Basically, only her parents can settle her now.) so we popped the babycrack into the dvd player and...she fell asleep on my lap. Didn't sleep long, but spent about 15 minutes afterwards just lying in my lap blinking up at me studiously. She's still very baby-looking, but when she was being so quiet and serious, you could see the emerging toddler. So dear.
Now scarfing down some nice mooing steak, since I didn't get home until a little bit ago. Mmmmm garlic. Mmmmm cow.
but I've also got a mod one for the comic book artist who does Blue Monday
Hec, the next time you talk to her, could you please let her know that I adore her work and am goggle-eyed with envy that you know her well enough to make video compilations for her?
I am having a blah day. I was hoping to rest this weekend, finally get over the bug I've been fighting off, maybe wander around some thrift stores. Instead, I get to take care of a poor sickly artist, because Pete came down with the flu.

I'd say sense of humor and general kindness should probably be on the list as well.
Today I went out for a very tasty bowl of crawfish chowder at the too-pricey lunch place. The hostess introduced me to Hottie!Bartender, whereupon he looked at her like she was crazy and said "we know each other!" Apparently tipping more than 20% will get you noticed.
After that I went to see Hide and Seek (nicely creepy!) and out book shopping. I ended up doing the latter at two stores, since I felt like employees at the first were constantly trying to step into the space I was occupying. Note to manager: regular bookstore customers are often people who like quiet and solitude, hence the reading rather than, say, dancing in a mosh pit for recreation. That means that yelling to employees on the other side of the store and restocking the shelves browsing customers are looking at while brushing shoulders with them will not create a comfortable environment.
I have had an odd day that leads me to feel that it must be the middle of the night already -- I went to the movies, and then met friends at a bar, but the movie was a matinee, and the thing at the bar started at 5. In between, I also got a dress and a jacket at 75% off, which ROCKS.
So now I feel I should go to bed.
