A friend of mine discovered she had a sure fire way of distracting her then 5-month old daughter from any tantrum: point her at the newly acquired 5 month old kittens. She'd start shrieking with laughter instead. Even if the kittens were sleeping and being boneless. Apparently, to a 5 month old, there is something inherently hysterically funny about kittens.
When I was in a highchair, I used to feed the cats my food with my spoon. Mom had to watch me carefully, or I'd feed it all to them.

There used to be a Winn-Dixie there? When I was at Tulane, there wasn't any supermarket within walking distance. A few overpriced yet really gross grocery stores, and a Rite-Aid that had a few grocery aisles, but no actual supermarkets.
