There's something about a food that moves all by itself that gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm currently driving a Ford and apparently that was the right answer

You're a good company man. Me, a godless heathen. I think there was some allowance for buying a luxury European car, but not much. Buying an Accord? Travesty, betrayal, unpatriotic.

Reliable and affordable, though. My bosses advised against it, since we had Ford and GM as customers, and I'd look bad in their parking lots. And then I heard tales of factory workers who had their imports picked up, cubed, and returned to their parking spot.

eta:

all instances of pinching only refer to the pinching of sara's cheeks and ita's bum.

Good luck with that! It's like STEEL, baybee.

I can't even.

The Accord is an excellent car. I owned one for about 8 years, and that particular one is still going strong (in year 12). Not so unpatriotic here with the Accord plant just up the road in Alliston, but yeah, I've heard the stories about the foreign car abuse. I dunno what my next car will be. I need to be able to tote lots of crap, but I also need to fit into downtown parking. One of the SCA cars of choice these days is the Focus hatchback.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Heh -- depending on how I'm feeling, the "what do you do?" question can be answered by "I'm in publishing" or "I work for [Major Publishing Company]" or "I'm a Software Applications Architect" or "I program Notes databases for sales and marketing" or "I write fantasy and horror."

I've heard good things about the ugly¹ Scion on those counts.

¹I know you love yours, Betsy, but I gotta be true to my ew.

I want a Prius next, or one of whatever hybrids are on the market in '06.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I have now sampled Cricket Cola. It is microbrewed and made with cane sugar, kola nut and green tea. Pretty tasty. The cane sugar really makes a difference. And you can really taste the tea, yet it still tastes like cola.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ugh. I was lured upstairs by the promise of free food, but the free food turned out to be really crappy, and now I wish I hadn't eaten any. At least I have some free soda to wash it down with.
