"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I should just be happy that no one at work is bothering me, right? shrift, I am holding you up as my "there but for the grace of god" work example.

Ha! Well, it could be worse. I could be salaried, or working on a chain gang.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Were you trying to get "in" ita?

Did I want to have money like they had money? Sure. Enough to whore myself out? No. But that was about the only angle open to me to take advantage of the connections.

i.e. -- nothing fell into my lap, but it might have if I wasn't wearing panties at the time.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I need to rent the movie Metropolitan again. Or maybe I should just buy it.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Good lord. Are you all still really arguing over which is better, Netflix or PPV?

Gus, you know not to argue with ita, especially when she is right or thinks she is. She'll just hound you incessantly until you either agree or disappear.

Also, does it matter HOW people watch. So Gus likes to buy DVDs or pirate them from PPV. BFD. So ita and a whole bunch of other folks use netflix or rent from Blockbuster? Maybe they are supporting The Man, but does it matter?

sigh.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I don't know. I brushed shoulders with millionaires for years, and none of it rubbed off. No one married me, no one bought me more than dinner (admittedly lovely dinner), I didn't reap anything other than the occasional nice vacation, being able to drive lovely cars every now and again, and a fair amount of disdain or inconvenience because I wasn't able to even remotely pay my own way.

But you weren't looking to establish a foothold in that part of society. Those that long for the this lifestyle would not not feel disdain nor be inconvenienced because they couldn't pay their own way. They position themselves to make sure the money falls their way. What I'm getting is that you didn't care to compromise yourself to marry Midas.

So I must disagree with your disagreement. I think we now agree...

edit: A lovely little x-post with Ms Trudy.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Tom scores with the meta.

Tom, I'd kiss you right now, if you were here. Because you just made me laugh.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I can't. But odds are, neither of my grandmothers could have, either. Both were dirt poor farmers' daughters who were too busy clawing their way up to the lower middle class to care about the age of anyone's money.

But did they read the papers and talk about the dresses and stuff? Nobody does that now.

Did I want to have money like they had money? Sure. Enough to whore myself out? No. But that was about the only angle open to me to take advantage of the connections.

I was thinking more along the lines of dating/marrying or putting your MBA to use.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

The creators made the best deal they could with Time Warner or whomever. If TW owned Netflix, this would be pertinent.

Uhh. Netflix is independant, right?
