Brenda, there's an adorable video about Klondike and Snow that Lori and I have. They were born in captivity and then mom rejected them. They were about ~2-~3 lbs at birth with some broken bones from mom. The zoologists raised them.

Yes. Make that noise without actually opening your mouth and you got it.
And, for the first 6 months of a polar bear's life, it is kept in the den with the mother. Who hasn't hunted/eaten in that time (for the most part). It's also not uncommon to have more than 1 cub in a litter. Poor mama bear.
Apparently the one who (named Ulu) rejected Klondike and Snow had another set of twins in 1999 that she did not reject.
I t heart polar bears. Which is why I was offended by the travesty of the the one that was so poorly CGId on Lost. Polar Bears are possibly my favorite animal.
