Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
I think I have finally reached the point at which I hate my own fandom. What a bunch of freaks.
Sorry for the vent and present company excluded of course.
Having a bad day?
Let's not be excluding people. That would be rude. Oh, wait. I'm on the wrong side of that one.
Seriously, venting is fine. I hope it helps and that things improve soon. And also, if the line above brings more frustration instead of a smile, please ignore it.
No worries. They just all take it SOOOOOO seriously. I feel sad that I no longer feel apart of it all. I just see people freaking out about a whole lot of nothing and I feel loathing and pity.
Maybe it is the smoke in the air. It's making me cranky.
I still love Firefly and all and will happily try to pimp it to anyone who hasn't seen it, but I find myself almost completely disconnected from the fandom at large, lately. I still go to local functions and the like, but it's pretty much all about the people I've befriended and nothing to do with the show for me at this point.
I love it too, and am still loaning the DVDs out to folks who I think might like it. I just don't understand the religious like fervor of some. I understand now why so many people were turned off during the build up to the movie.
I hardly even go on the two sites I ran for the movie release now, and certainly don't go near the Firefly topics. Although in fairness, the UK browncoat bunch are actually alright from experience - any time there's a topic like 'Actor says sequel!' everybody tends to be 'Yeah, whatever'. And all the 'Vote for Firefly!' things get ignored.
It's a difficult one for me, as I met by best friend by a wide, wide margin through the release of the movie -- it sounds a bit much, but it's a relationship which has changed me -- and a bunch of other cool people I still hang out with. But have I seen the movie for the past few years? Nah. The TV series? Nah. Do I feel part of the community at large? Nah. I'm not sure when that last bit happened.
If we keep posting here, in another 105 we're gonna need another thread.
Woah. Good myth.
Does anyone feel that a new thread should be created when this one runs out?
