I think Jubal's gift is the fact that despite his obvious mental issues, he also knows the impact of words, and he uses them to great effect.
He very carefully uses words he believes will control, and to great effect. I don't see him as having any intention nor inclination to rape, but knows the impact of the suggestion.
Creepy implies to me something unnatural or otherworldly, though.
Yes it took me a while to figure out we were talking about Jubal Early because creepy doesn't seem like the right word to me. Sinister, maybe.
I thought her little delves into peoples minds was creepy. Then her becoming the ship (tho we know otherwise now), but first time I saw it, I was a bit creeped.
I thought it was awesome when she became the ship! I immediately thought of all the female ships with personalities I had loved. I was so fooled.

I got Robert Heinlein's Gay Deceiver. And then for some reason a flash of C.O.R.A. from BSG TOS.
O ya, it was totally awesome... but creepy in that "where did she go and how the hell did she do that" kind of way. Totally fell for it too. By the time I saw the shows (dvd) I thought of Halo 2 computer gal. Dunno why.
