When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Universal (or rather, one of their lawyer firms) are taking legal action against 11th Hour, who produced the marketing posters for Firefly and the Universal licensed Serenity RPG artworks, and long time member of the Firefly fandom (and former WB staffer etc).

They would like about $8000.

Serenity and Firefly have also been blocked from Cafepress.com's search function.

Whilst I fully agree with licensing, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is a fucking idiotic situation in terms of 11th's case.

Beyond the rest of the nastiness in this whole thing, I'd be seriously pissed at Cafepress and Universal right now if I was a Cafepress vendor with products that have "Firefly" or "Serenity" in their names but which aren't related to the show/movie. Cafepress is trying to do things the lazy way instead of the right way.

Yep, KernelM. They've done it before - try searching for Superman. It's basically a tactic they use to stop copyright holders searching for offending items.

The one thing Cafepress has done really badly, though, is this: they use Google to advertise Firefly tshirts, and have a section on their website dedicated to Firefly fan stuff. It's still up and running. They can't claim they don't know about it, as they index and advertise the stuff.

Hee--a Serenity vs. Star Wars smackdown!!

My favorite bit:

Chewbacca vs. Zoe. If there's a crew member on Serenity that can give Chewie a fight, it's got to be Zoe. Jayne may have the muscle and Jayne may have the guns, but it's going to take a lot more than that to take Chewbacca down, and Zoe's the one that's got the muscle, the guns, and the brain. A good shot, smart, strong, and sneaky when she wants to be, Zoe's the Serenity crew member to truly fear.

Plus, she has better hair.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Wait, better hair than Jayne or better hair than Chewie? No, don't answer that.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Better hair than everybody.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

OMG I'll be in Chicago on the 4th. Are you guys dressing up?

I'm sure someone will.

I'm buried enough with work that I can't promise I'll be able to go. I hope to.
