Let me guess. We're in a hurry.

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

One of the interesting, I suppose, aspects of Firefly has been the reaction within the fan base of late. Longer term fandom people had the prospect of Serenity to look forward to for a long time - and also the aspect of sequels, which was probably played upon too much - so now there's obviously a degree of desperation in the air. I also think many elements of the show stoke the fire - 'doing the impossible' and 'too pretty to die' ring in my ears. Although, that last bit isn't exactly anybodies fault - it clearly wasn't written with the meaning some infer on it.

And then, of course, there's the movie - can't stop the signal! You can never stop the signal! I'm not sure how intentional that was, anyway. Oh, and the marketing: fans campaigned tirelessly for 70 years to have the movie, hurling themselves at tall buildings (or words to that effect).

Still, though, I suppose one of the things that made the fandom buzz worth it on the run up to the movie was actually, well, the fandom buzz. It was off the charts. People were hyped. (Mostly) happy times.

I've converted the new bloke. This pleases me. Yes.

He's still not big on Buffy though. But he buys me comics, so it all balances out.

Well done Jars. I didn't know you had a man with man bits.

Yes, real honest-to-dog man bits.

He's been MSNing me all day as he's been watching disc three. The latest one was telling me that I didn't have to be jealous anymore because he loved Kaylee less when she chickened out of using the gun. Yeah, he's converted. And we've decided that I'm allowed marry Mal and Simon and Inara so long as he can have Kaylee and Zoe. And Inara on weekends. Excellent.

Fair trades, that.

But little River is feeling all left out.

Meh. The voices will keep her company.

I've almost stopped trying to convert people, because it just means that I have to go through the pain of not telling them what happens in the movie all over again. Wash is his favourite character. Won't shut up about him. Yeah.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again."

Wait, wrong show....

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've gotten a friend hooked on Firefly. Aside from loving the series, she found it reassuring that even in the distant future, you'll still be able to get a good pair of Docs.

Well, apparently, they still have an England.
