And yet, no Serenity noms. sigh.
I don't think nominations have anything to do with domestic gross.
'Life of the Party'
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

I wonder (but am too lazy to check) what their costs were. I mean, are these grosses truly on a level with Serenity?
Do you keep a movie in the theatre longer because the critics like it, even if it's not making its money back?
As for noms--I really liked the film, but I'm not sure, outside of technical categories (and that's just a vague proposal) it could be nominated.
Oh, no. That wasn't my point. I actually think "domestic gross" and "art" are generally almost diametrically opposed. Still, if a film can not be wildly popular and be considered for an Oscar....there's a certain film I'm thinking of. Not that I expected anything, anyway.
I remember hearing an estimate of about 45 mil.
dcp, that would be lovely. Profile addy is good.

I know that Crash, Good Night, and Good Luck and Capote all cost around $7M, give or take. Brokeback was in the 15 range. Munich and Syriana cost boatloads more.
So, Morena Baccarin is going to be on The OC tonight.
And I'm going to have to miss it.
tonight, huh? i still haven't gotten around to watching last week's. i'll just have to let TiFaux grab it.
Let me join in with the Uncle D loving.
And if William Shatner can get published ....
I rented the audiobook of Shatner's Star Trek Memories and I have to say, I was riveted. Okay, yeah, ego bigger than the great outdoors...no news...but the stories were really interesting. While I don't think I'd want to shake his hand, he's done good in terms of building a career out of being a joke. With at least a little dignity.
I remember seeing him do a dramatic reading on the Merv Griffin show. Never thought I'd grow up to respect him.

Um. Can't wait for Nathan's tell all memoir in about 10 years. Oh, those Joss stories...
