But mostly I think it's just movie logic where if the ships were spaced out as they should have been, they all would have been pretty tiny if they wanted to show the fleet.
See also: movie asteroid belts.
Standing on any given asteroid in our asteroid belt, it is highly unlikely that the nearest asteroids would be visible without magnification, albeido not withstanding.
Do you think that Serenity would be okay for a 9 year old? I'm thinking I may see if my nephew is interested when I am home for Thanksgiving this weekend. I can't think of anything that would freak him out. There's no swearing that isn't gorram or Chinese, is there? He's seen all the Star Wars movies and even martial arts movies, so I am sure the violence won't bother him.
Well, I took my 10 year old to it. But then again, he loves the Alien movies, so maybe he's not the best example.
Then again, he's a boy. I bet he'd love it, if his parents are OK with it. Some kind of scary action, but no swearing or sex. Well, no real sex, just some suggestive shots.
Just got back from seeing Serenity.
In. IMAX.
Which was a total surprise, since we didn't pay IMAX prices nor request it. That's just where it was.
I think the movie got tightened up considerably from what I saw in the preview. The action - particularly in the last action scene when they're trapped - is more coherent.
It rewards repeated viewing. There's a lot in it. This time around I'm just noticing Mal's arc, and how it's about regaining faith.
FWIW, it's very clearly spelled out (several times) that Zoe and Wash are married. Also, the implication that Book had been an operative also seemed stronger on this viewing.
JZ was a wreck, sobbing uncontrollably from the minute Wash said "I'm a leaf on the wind" the first time. But she enjoyed it too.
We'll definitely go see it again.
I'm looking for a new tag line or .sig. Is that line of Jayne's where he's quoting Book, "If you can't do something easy, do something right"?
I think it's "If you can't do something smart, do something right."
Yeah, that was it. Thanks!
Cool, Hecubus! I'm going to see it again on Saturday, and we're going to the Metreon, so maybe I'll see it in Imax. In which case I'll sit way back. Handheld cameras + Me = Unhappiness.
And I too, thought that the final sequences were much easier to follow. As was the opening: I think they added some text to the voiceover.
I think it's "If you can't do something smart, do something right."
The Visual Companion script says:
JAYNE - Shepherd Book used to tell me: if you can't do something smart, do something right.
