Inara: So. Would you like to lecture me on the wickedness of my ways? Book: I brought you some supper, but if you'd prefer a lecture, I've a few very catchy ones prepped. Sin and hellfire... one has lepers.

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

I'm buying my tickets first thing tomorrow (cough payday) morning.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Serenity's up to 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know if y'all were paying attention to the Bureaucracy discussion, but as of September 30th (board time, shall we say), ALL SERENITY DISCUSSIONS ARE BLACKFONT AND IN THIS THREAD.

FYI.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Whoot! Just chatting on lj with a friend - I stay with her for a few months when I first moved to Chicago, and when I moved out I accidentally left my Firefly DVDs behind. She sat down and watched one, and then got totally hooked and zoomed through the rest, and she's all fired up for the movie. Accidental toaster, you are mine!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Salon review of Serenity. Spoilery when you get to the middle of page 2. (eta: and as Sean K points out, And continues to be spoilery for a couple of paragraphs after that. Yeah, I shoulda made that more clear.)

Joss Whedon's feature-film debut, the science-fiction western "Serenity," is beautifully made, written with more wit and intelligence than we get from most contemporary movies of any genre, and features an ensemble of actors whose rhythms are almost supernaturally in tune. There's only one problem with "Serenity": It's not "Firefly," the TV show that first gave these characters, and this story, life in autumn 2002 on the Fox network.

eta: I suppose the link would be helpful: [link]

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I finished converting my friend.

After we were done, she said, "Why was this cancelled?"

"Ratings," I said.

She said she liked it better than Angel.

We're seeing Serenity in twenty-one hours.

Whee, toaster.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Yay Toaster!

Good review, the best I've seen yet -- but then Zacharek is admittedly a Firefly fan.

Anyone watch this week's Bones on Fox? At the end of the ep, they announced that the series was going on hiatus until the end of baseball. Fuckos. I mean, it's good they learned something, but Jesus.

"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

Yeah, I heard that and thought, "Oh, no...is this going to be the FOX kiss of death?" It's bound to happen to me at least once a season. (If you count The Inside, then I guess it has. *grumble*)
