Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So what else is opening on Friday? I think Cronenberg's A History of Violence is the only other possibly big movie opening on the 30th, unless I'm forgetting something. (Has Oliver Twist already opened?)

Over the last weekend, Flightplan was the #1 movie, with $24.6 million, and the only other one above ten mil was Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, at $20.1 million.

So I'm crossing my fingers that Serenity will be the #1 movie this weekend. All the preview showings will count for the first week's box office too.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, but will they even add up to a million dollars?

I don't think so, but every little bit helps.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Yeah, but will they even add up to a million dollars?

I'm figuring more like a quarter mil if the last total number of screenings I heard was accurate. But, hopefully thousands of those early attenders will be dragging friends to see it and buying tickets to multiple showings themselves.

Art Crawl!!!

Is A History of Violence opening limited or wide on Friday? (I mean, did it open limited this weekend?)

That's definitely a movie that I want to see. (But, of course, I shall be at Serenity this weekend.)

You know, I'm making the assumption that where there is a pre-screening on Thursday (or whichever day it is), there will also be a regular run. That's a logical assumption, right? The theater where I'm planning to see it does have a pre-screening but doesn't have its Friday schedule up yet, and I've got a whole meet up and do dinner thing going on with a friend there. Hope the movie is actually there, too. Huh.

I mean, you wouldn't pre-screen a movie on Thursday that you weren't going to show on Friday, right?

Yeah, I think I'm fine. It's just, sometimes my assumptions, which are so clearly righ to me are... not so much. But I think I'm good with this one.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

From what someone just posted over at Oscarwatch, it looks like HoV is going to be on about 1200 screens. Into the Blue (Jessica Alba in a bikini) is on 2700, and Serenity is going to be on 2100. The Greatest Game Ever Played (the Holes guy plays golf) is on 1000, and Oliver Twist is on 800. I don't know about films already out, yet (BOM usually puts out the final theater count list on Wednesday or Thursday).
