Rumor has it that foxmusic.com has changed the format from .wma to .mp3

Yeah, I just got this email from Fox Music:

Thank you to everyone who has purchased and downloaded the Original Television Soundtrack to Firefly (link to [link]

We would like to sincerely apologize for any technical difficulties you may have experienced during this process. We want you to know that we have heard you, and we have some good news…

- .mp3 files -- We have made .mp3 files available for download, so everyone, including Mac users, can now enjoy the Firefly soundtrack.

- Redelivery available (link to [link] If you have already purchased the license rights to the soundtrack, you can choose to “redeliver” the file in .mp3 format. Please see instructions below.

We also want to assure you that Greg Edmonson and Joss Whedon are receiving all of the record royalties due them for each purchase. We all thank you for your support.

Redelivery Instructions:

1. Go to the Fox Music Site (link to [link]

2. Click on the “AV” tab on the far right of your browser window. Your Active Viewer will slide out.

3. Login to the Active Viewer. Enter your email address, Check “Yes, I am a returning user”, and enter the password you created when you first purchased your Firefly digital album. Click NEXT.

4. Click on the “My Stuff” folder icon. Click on the “Digital Album” link. DOUBLE-click on the “Firefly Original Soundtrack” link. Scroll down the page to this link: Download the entire ‘Firefly Original Television Soundtrack Album’ and click on it.

5. Download the file, and you will automatically receive the .mp3 format.

JenP, the file I posted about is the Firefly soundtrack, from the TV series.

Yeah, I knew that - I went and listened to the snippets when you first posted about it. It still sounded like a re-recording of the music from the show. Sounded... smoother or something, so I couldn't decide whether to dl. I probably will, though.

ETA: Not that it's wrong that it was re-recorded or anything. Basically, I'm looking for confirmation that I'm not crazy - that it does sound different.

Ah. I misunderstood. "Kind of different than how it sounds on the show" was my reaction to the snippets I've heard from Serenity, so I thought that was what you meant. Sorry.

Oh, no worries. And now I know that the Serenity soundtrack is out there already. I'll have to go search it out.

One week. Only one week to the movie. So excited.

I can't remember where I came across the links to the snippets from the Serenity soundtrack. I thought it was here, but the search feature isn't finding them for me. I remember discussion that the track titles might be considered spoilery. I didn't like the snippets enough to keep them.

Oh, you know, I think I remember that from here, you're right. I think I might have listened to them, but I can't remember what I thought. Well, in one week, I'll know how I like the music.
