Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

"Oliver."

ETA: Whoops. Not the musical. The original.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh, of course. Not to worry. The general moviegoing audience will be more interested in Serenity than a remake of a book most of them have never heard of, let alone read.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Non-spoilery interview with Joss about Serenity and Astonishing X-Men (well, there is a spoiler for Astonishing #12 if you haven't read it yet.) [link]

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Fox Music is selling a "Firefly original television soundtrack" online: [link]

Looks like it's the real thing, but the early comments I'm seeing on fireflyfans.net and browncoats.serenitymovie.com are not very positive.

Still trying to decide if I want to spend the $10....

Apparently it's incredibly buggy and only works with IE, when it works at all.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Huh. Purchase and download was trouble-free for me using IE 5.5

The zipped file is about 38Mb, and contains 17 .wma tracks. Total runtime is 39:29.

I was very happy to find that one of the tracks is the closing music from "The Message," without the annoying voice-over. But there are three pieces I was hoping for that aren't there: the dance music from "Shindig," the dance music from "Safe," and "The Hero of Canton." That aside, I think it was worth the $10 and the download time, even on dial-up.

Now I just have to remember which program I use to convert .wma to .mp3 so I can transfer the tracks to my Clié.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wow.

I mean...people still do the Josh Whedon thing?

Official-type people?

"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

The Serenity ad during Bones last night even had one of the "thumbs up for more" tags on TiVo where it would take you to the trailer. I was very happy to see that little extra bit of promotion.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It's also been popping up on the menu in the regular pomotional-stuff rotation.
