No studying? Damn! Next thing they'll tell me is I'll have to eat jelly doughnuts or sleep with a supermodel to get things done around here. I ask you, how much can one man give?

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

All my non-fan friends who I brought to screenings are now fans, so I'm hoping that's a good indicator.

I was at a party last Saturday and I was talking with one of the people who saw the movie, and we were explaining how it started as Firefly to another friend. Mid-conversation, someone else approached and asked what we were talking about. I started repeating my nutshell description of Firefly and she didn't react, but once I mentioned Serenity, she immediately said, "I want to see that!" She must have seen the trailer at some point.

Count me in as someone else planning on seeing it multiple times. I'm trying to get a group of people I know from work to go on the 30th.

I may have to seize the cat.

Kiba, you are now required to wash out your mouth with bar soap.

Listerine will have to do, it's what I've got.

Understand that fear and believe are two very different things. I am afraid of it happening. I don't think it will, but I still fear it.

I have no idea how many showings I will or won't be going to, but that might be because as of right now I am only employed in the vaguest sense of the word (I begin training tomorrow for teaching GRE prep courses, an occupation which will bring me a vast 3 hours of work per week - so I am still looking for a 40 hour a week gig).

ETA: I got a cool number. yay!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I don't know how many friends I'll be able to drag to Serenity, but I've promised myself at least 6 viewings.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was more concerned by the lack of a promo before Brothers Grimm, but they didn't seem to have a good feel for who was going to that movie.

I got that (embarassing, IMO) thing about Firefly and The Fans before Brothers Grimm. But is that just in the one theater chain?

Your tag here.

But is that just in the one theater chain?

AMC and Regal theaters, assuming nothing has changed since Eddie "Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains" Aug 12, 2005 6:06:30 pm PDT

Who? moi??

A friend of mine is taking her entire office to two different showings. She isn't the only one who will be attending twice. (on opening day, that is) She is in another city, but we have plans to see later viewings together.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

move out and draw fire

Mark the date. I am predicting that Serenity will go 20M+ on opening weekend, and that it will kick north of 100M in domestic run...

What was the price that Universal set on its head? It has to clear 18M or something for them to make a sequel?

If I won the lottery I'd just pay them the amount.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Based on the reports I've been reading, they could've released Serenity back in April of this year and it would've made a killing. There really wasn't any competition for it all summer.
