Yup. Showed that to her after The Message so the hat wouldn't be a surprise.
Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
I remember Tim saying (Sunday afternoon at Comic Con 2004) that he'd be involved with the next movie, if the first was successful enough. A Firefly movie written by Tim? Did I hear him right, or was that sleep deprivation talking to me?
90% of fan efforts I've seen and been personally involved with to promote the movie have had nothing to do with getting points or whatnot.
So very much this. I've got a minimum of 45 people lined up to see the movie simply because I asked them to and because my stoopid giddiness over it is apparently infectious.
I gave the 'fans are being exploited' discussion a fair read and then completely discounted it.
While registered everywhere a Browncoat can be counted, I've never even considered participating in points systems and such. I tried to get into a screening out of rabid curiosity rather than status building or mindless submission to some evil marketing plan.
I'm pleased for people who participate in these things to their enjoyment. Assuming they are being exploited sort of suggests they are simple minded...unable to make decisions in the face of corporate manipulation. I suppose that is so in some cases but, hey, circle of life.
Andi and I are watching The Train Job with Joss and Tim commentary.
Oooh. The Joss 'n' Tim Show might be my most favourite TV commentary ever.
Except for maybe the Joss 'n' Nathan Show on "Serenity." Or Tim's love for OOG. Okay, I can't really choose.
Cashmere, I'm totally with you. While I'm overcome with joy at the prospect of ANY new Firefly, two hours of film is just so much less than countless hours of fabulous tv.
Though this:
A Firefly movie written by Tim?
might just make me die of glee.
Oooh. The Joss 'n' Tim Show might be my most favourite TV commentary ever.
Nathan 'n' Alan Show, "War Stories."
Face. Hurt. Laughing.
Now I have to go home and watch all the commentaries. Aw, darn. I think War Stories and OiS were the only commentaries I've watched so far.
My only bitterness is that I couldn't get preview tickets in Seattle. Mostly, I am very happy about the movie. But only because I'm sure that it will do well, we'll have two sequels, and then it will come back to tv, even if it must morph somewhat to do so. If I am deluded, it is at least a happy delusion.
Also, it looks like I might possibly be in the Bay Area at opening time. Are any festivities planned?
Cereal: Yes, Zenkitty, you must watch the commentaries. Although, if you were skipping, you could skip the commentary for Shindig. Mildly cute, but not all that exciting.
Shindig is one of my favorite commentaries, because I'm a production-side nerd and so loved all the comments from Shawna about the costumes. I am aware, though, that it is generally (and rightly so) considered the least entertaining of the commentaries.
I might have to watch the Shindig commentary just to find out if she bought that hoopskirted outfit of Kaylee's something or she made it. Hoopskirts are a hoot to wear. As long as you don't plan to do anything like sit down.
