Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Math geek sense... tingling.

Mmm... math.

Shall we talk about the analytic and algebraic topology of locally Euclidean parameterizations of infinitely differentiable Riemannian manifolds?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Bozhe moi!
This...I know...from nothing. What...I'm going...to do?
I think of great Lobachevsky and get idea--Aha!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Adrian Pasdar: bringing hot (and ambiguously gay) to a new level since Top Gun.

You know what's sad?

Tom Leher is as deep as I get into math.

Base 8 is just like base 10, really...

...if you're missing two fingers.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Holy Jebus. People randomly quoting Tom Lehrer. I feel truly and completely home.

Well, I was just going to post random mathematical jargon of my own devising ("whether the cardinal number aleph-one is equal to c, the cardinality of the reals, is undecidable in Zermelo-Frankel set theory"), but then I realized, why not Tom Lehrer?

Which, I think, is a query posed far too infrequently.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

This is either further proof that DX's and my sooper seekrit internet love was MEANT TO BE, or possibly that I'm even dorkier than anyone ever imagined, but when I was 10 I became obsessed with patter songs and memorized the entirety of "New Math" just to see if I could do it. And I just now quizzed myself on it in the kitchen while steaming milk for the coffee, and it's all still there.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Did we know the Serenity novelization is being written by Keith DeCandido?

Huh. Well, it could be worse, but it would've been better if it had been written by, say, Joss or Tim or Jane. But then, most things are.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Blog post about the Comic-Con panel. No spoilers.

I love Nathan Fillion:

Video crews with shoulder-mounted cameras transmitted the goings-on to giant screens for the benefit of those farther back in the giant hall and Fillion seized the opportunity for one close-up.

"And for those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, I've got good news," Fillion said, pausing. "I've just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance."
