Hey. New board.

Seems reasonable to me.

Nice pics JSw. cute smile on you, Northern Boy

I've just been trolling the Dragon*Con pages, dreaming and scheming.

Turns out I have a place to stay in Decatur...not too far outside Atlanta. Staying in the convention hotel would be more convenient, natch, but hey...free accommodation with a friend I won't get to see much this summer.

I'm going strictly for the Fireflyness, but I have to say the Buffy track looks like a lot of fun.

I'm getting the girl scoutiness required to brave the Con and I'm expecting to get no sleep. This being my first and all.

My question is about volunteering. I don't need the discount, but I'm wondering if being 'on staff' might be a good way to ease myself into the con experience, learn my way around, meet people, etc.

Anyone ever done it? Cautionary tales?

Um.

My photos from the Serenity Preview Screening, Toronto, June 23/05

Where did those character cutouts come from? They're pretty good likenesses for cartoon characters.

I already said it in lj, but -- looks like so much fun! I adore all the Jayne hats. JsW and SM are looking fab.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Crap. I can't think of the guy's name. He used to post on the OB all the time and even brought them to the Browncoat Ball last year and the first screening in Chicago. I've met him twice IRL and can't remember his real or board names. I'm a bad person.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

His name is Mark. he usually goes by the screen name Irish or some semblance of that.

I can't even.

Thanks, Cass and Beej and JenP, glad you liked the photos. It was indeed a fun night. The cunning hats were really cool. I'd really like one but I look more than the usual slightly foolish in hats, never mind a hat so cunning as Jayne's.

Beej, I've done volunteering at cons before, and it can be a fun way to meet people and get a feel for how cons work. Best to start small, though. It is easy to get to the point where volunteering becomes your con experience entire, and you should have some fun from the attendee side first.

Ankh-Morpork Watchman, Dreamer, Scooby, Minister of Grace, Still Flyin' in a Zoo2 World

The cartoons were also used on the awesome Austin shindig shirts. Irish is in fact a professional illustrator.

You know...you're right JSw. I'm more prone than the average lass to get really caught up in 'doing' at events. (both professionally and otherwise) So. I would probably miss a big part of the experience.

Okay, never mind. I don't need such a ploy to get beyond my concern about feeling awkward. I can gut it out.

Thanks for the voice of reason.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

(includes Sean Maher pics - yes, he is wee)

But so very pretty.
