Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Train Job is my least favorite episode. The only thing I like about it is punting the bad gun into the turbine.

It's not terrible. But there's not one line I love and cuddle and cherish and hold to my chest. Also, I resent that it ran first and basically killed the fucking show by garnering such mediocre reviews.

Of course, that's Fox's fault. But still, it's #13 out of 13.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

garnering such mediocre reviews.

I thought the reviews were good, just not the ratings?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

But there's not one line I love and cuddle and cherish and hold to my chest.

I think you have a problem with your brain being missing, sir.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

So at my show tonight one of my guests handed me a note from another acquaintance telling me that he'd seen the Serenity trailer and pointing me to the apple trailers site.

Too funny.

Not enough. Not nearly enough.

What's your least loved anyway?

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

More than enough: "You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you see who's in ruttin' command here!"

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Hee hee. Brain.

Hee hee Chain.

That's all I got.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

My least favorite is The Message. Stupidest criminal scheme ever. Jerry Lewis!Wash. Obnoxiously over-the-top villain. Most of the crew acting like they have problems with their brains being missing. JerryLewis!Wash. It's just bad.

Which is disappointing, because barring Officer Scenechewer, I love everything up until immediately after they listen to Tracey's message, at which point the episode slowly gathers steam for it's plunge directly into suckville.

ETA: Actually, there's still some great stuff after that, but once Tracey wakes up, it's just plain ugh.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

What never fails to crack me up from that episode? "You can't change that by gettin' all...bendy...and the lights...from the console..to keep you warm..." THUD "Did he just go crazy and then fall down?"

(From, admittedly not the best, memory)

ETA: That episode being the train job

I think I agree, Kalshane. It just...didn't seem to make sense not to tell Tracey they weren't going to freaking turn him in. And then on the commentary, they mention that it's supposed to be Wash's thing that he's calm under pressure, and here he was going crazy under pressure, and they decided whatever, go for the comedy rather than stay true to the character. Which...bugged me.

"Can I have your share?"
"No."
"If you die, can I have your share?"
"Yes."
