I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Glau (Angel), the ''mysterious passenger'': ''She brings a haunting quality, while fulfilling my apparent need to have a superpowered adolescent in everything I do.''

I gotta say, I would've gone with "need to have a crazy, skinny brunette," but maybe that's just me...

I look more rad than Lutheranism

That being said, I don't think the movie is going to be any good.

After seeing the trailer, I've revised my opinion of it from "Painfully, horribly, watch-from-the-hall embarassing," to "Mindless, stupid fun....too bad about Jessica Simpson."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just can't stand to look at the three leads. Other than them, the casting looks inspired.

Then I realise I don't remember a single plot of a single episode, nothing, in fact, other than the dire importance of the county line, and I just go back to waiting eagerly for the Miami Vice movie.

Jonathan Frakes was in an episode.

That's all I got.

the in-flight entertainment (translation: prostitute):

This has me a bit puzzled. I get the joke, but since she doesn't contract with the crew or passengers...

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Two words: Bootlegger reverse.

Two words: Bootlegger reverse

Ahah.

But what do those two words mean?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Bootlegger reverse.

AKA Bootlegger Turn: [link]

eta:

If you're being chased while driving, you can also do what the FBI refers to as the bootlegger's turn. It can be used only when going at least 40 miles an hour. While driving, slam or pull the emergency break and turn the steering wheel a quarter of a turn. The tires will lock up and the car will spin 180 degrees. Release the break and hit the gas. The maneuver reverses the car's direction in a split second.

slam or pull the emergency break

Does that mean it only works with the emergency brake, or does slam mean you can do it with the normal brakes?

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

The maneuver reverses the car's direction in a split second.

And, often as not, blows all four tires, to say nothing of the internal damage from using the emergency brake like that. They went through so many General Lees on that show. Still, coolest damn maneuver ever.
