Vegas tickets are still available. Fandango had a glitch.
Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
An asshat "Reviews" Serenity: [link]
(May contain spoilers, I dunno, I got sick of the sniveling chowderhead before reading very far)
You know, the fascist reference is a fair shot, but it's Mussolini, buddy, not Hitler.
No, I didn't read any farther than that either. Since, you know, I must not exist, being a fan and not a boy.
I skimmed. There are plot spoilers.
Mussolini, buddy, not Hitler
No, Mussolini's were the Blackshirts--the camicie nere. Hitler's Blackshirts were the SS (Schutzstaffel). The Brownshirts were the Hitler Youth and the SA (Sturmabteilung).
Barber certainly comes off as an asshole for ranting about fans acting like fans at a fan event. Chalk it up to needing to pad his word count, because he had so little to say about the movie itself. He says it himself, he didn't want to be there in the first place.
Damn. Well, uh... he's still a jerk!
But, oops.
ETA: Just to say, I did know the blackshirts were, uh, blackshirts. I just didn't know there were any brownshirts.
Perhaps I shall rent Harry Barber a clue. He certainly does not have the wherewithal to own one outright.
Don't worry about it, Emily. You pinged a memory, so I looked it up. Then that led me to Garibaldi and the Redshirts. Now I'm reading about the Redlegs, Jayhawkers, and bushwhackers. "Lost in the encyclopedia, again...."
Here is the comment I posted:
The fact that you can barely write, much less use proper spelling or grammar, really detracts from whatever you may have had to say, to the point that I didn't even bother finishing it.
If you got paid for this review, I would humbly suggest you refund your boss's money, or at the least, use it to take a writing course.
I read the article and while he insults the fans a lot, what little bit he says about the movie seems to be fair criticism, even if I don't agree with it. He even agrees that Fox mishandled the show. If he didn't waste the majority of it taking potshots at the fans, it actually would be a valid, if very short, review.
