Calli, that is great news for me as that is exactly where I plan to see HG2G. Yay!
Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
The Paradiso in Memphis not only didn't air the Serenity trailer, it subjected me to an Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl trailer and an Episode III trailer with Ian McDiarmid scenes that are probably going to force me to see that movie. dammit.
On the other hand, H2G2 was very enjoyable, though I was the only person in the theater who laughed at TV Marvin .
Me too, Matt! I love meta, and boy was I happy with that movie. Except for the lack of trailer, of course.
But I am VERY much looking forward to seeing you.
Likewise! Last year, the Firefly cast was so damn entertaining that I went back for, like, three different sessions. And if we're lucky, Nathan Fillion will be helping people move stuff around at the Walk of Fame again this year, and we will be present to observe the pretty and the muscles and the... I swear, the man is like geeknip in person.
shrift, I am just the kind of nerd who will go in to the Firefly panel every time there is one. Because that is my primary reason for being there, although good company is a big one as well (very much looking forward to seeing some Bronzer pals, and meeting Tamara, and so on).
And then there's the Joss thing. Like, I was gonna go anyway, but that was what pushed me into the "I am getting there I don't care what happens between now and then goddammit."
I've decided I'm going to DragonCon. I haven't been to a con in many many years, but the presence of the Serenity folks has drawn me back in. I'll get to see a lot of old friends, and possibly old lovers (eep), and now I see I'll probably run into a few buffistas. Funny, it hadn't occurred to me before that any buffistas would be there. I guess you all really do live in the same world as me! Creepy.
The trailer took my breath away. God, this is going to be awesome.
It's okay that there's not much Book. Really! Because now, see, there'll be a sequel (yes, there will), and we can get a whole movie devoted to the Secret of Book, rather than squeezing his backstory in with everything else this movie is jammed with.
I went to see a play last night with a bunch of co-workers, most of whom I don't really know all that well. We were waiting outside for a few more to show up, when I overheard the woman standing next to me say to her mom that she "needed a Western hat sometime this summer." I asked her casually if she was going to be a cowboy for Halloween, and she said rather sheepishly that she needed it for "the Firefly movie this September." My eyes got big and I said (as I usually do when I encounter Firefly fans out of the blue), "You're into Firefly, too?! So am I!" Her mom admitted to being into it before her daughter got a chance to borrow her tapes and get hooked as well.
Kathy, that reminds me of a time when the show was still airing. I just all of a sudden started singing the Hero of Canton at a party and boom - discovered fellow Firefly fans. Exciting.
Went out with the Chicagoland Browncoats to see H2G2 last night in Evanston (and ran into the Chicago Scapers there, which was kind of amusing. Though probably only if you're me). Sadly no Serenity trailer, but I enjoyed the movie. Felt ZD's performance was kind of flat, though.
There was a guy wearing a Blue Sun shirt in the audience, but we didn't get a chance to talk to him.
BADGer-n-Riv3R-4-EVA4!
A life. I so need to get one.
