Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I got a ticket for Chicago!

So did I! The Chicago Browncoats are looking to meet up for dinner before the screening around 7pm (restaraunt still be decided) any Chicagoistas are welcome to join us.

I am going to be so dead at work the next day. Heh.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

Re the trailer: Did the ship get a new dock door? In the series it was the same color as the ship (metallic) but in the trailer it appears to be blue.

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

trailer trash:

The ballet-fu worked for me. She certainly sold the somersault w/punch move.

All the spaceship noises I could hear were in atmosphere. There was some "the fleets are closing on each other" music that was little disturbing. I couldn't tell if wall to wall score was just an artifact of the trailer.

Since Firefly is really about Kaley and Book, I think it was really clever of Joss to leave them out of the trailer. Now I have to buy a ticket.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The theater manager in Atlanta heard back from Universal. He was told that there would be discussions at Universal today about letting theatres show the screening to more people, but it would be at least 6 EST before there was a decision. The manager said it did not sound hopeful. He also said that Universal had specified that the screening be in one of the smaller theaters (it's a 24-screen theater).

Sigh.

I guess this is so they can report packed theaters. I bet, however, that "$11,000 per screen, in very limited release" would pack more punch.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

If it convinces the theatre chains that there will be a huge groundswell of interest in the movie and they'd better rush to book it exclusively for a couple weeks to take care of the demand, then it will all be worth it.

I really do think it has the potential to be the next Star Wars, seriously.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You mean with extensive re-edits to already released movies and a creole slinging goofball CGI character?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I guess this is so they can report packed theaters

I am guessing it's so they can show theaters there is a huge audience out there, but not to sell too many seats now so as to to not make an appreciable dent in the all-important opening weekend grosses.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

They haven't finished the effects yet. Tudyk is going to be replaced with CG, just like in I, Robot.

No, I meant in the Lennonesque "more popular than Jesus Christ" sense....
