So I got this e-mail this morning, linking to this message from Joss. [link]
Apparently, the link tells us that there will be a sneak preview of
Serenity
on May 5th at 10pm in the following cities.
Seattle
Austin
Sacramento
Boston
Altanta
Chicago
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Denver
The Portland of Oregon
I am so bummed I no longer live in Denver.
Here's the link to the page about the screenings -- [link] The Atlanta one keeps saying "cannot process request." I don't know if that means it's sold out or if Bartleby the Scrivenor works there. The other cities' links seem to work, although some are apparently sold out.
Either San Francisco is sold out, or it's just not working properly yet. I'm'a call the theater today and see if I can get hold of an actual human and find out which it is. If it's sold out I will be hugely sulky (though in a vaguely happy way -- it's a big damn theater, and if it's completely sold out within hours of the announcement, that's rather cool -- but really, still sulky).
I don't know if that means it's sold out or if Bartleby the Scrivenor works there.

I got a ticket for Chicago!
Except now I see this is "an unfinished version." I wonder how unfinished? Pro'lly means that some special effects are missing, but every thing else will be there, right? Or maybe it's lacking some music?
I mean, I'd be bummed if they only showed half the movie....

Nah, if anything you'll get the see stuff the rest of us might not (or might not until DVD), but some or all of the music and effects may be in rough shape, or not complete.
Man, should've flown home on Friday. At 10pm on May 5th I'll be in the air between two cities that don't have a screening. Drat.
Ginger: I called; they said Fandango will be down until noon, or you can go to the box office at 11:30. I'm going to the box office.
If I had a sockpuppet, my sockpuppet would say there'll be more in different areas of the country. But my sockpuppet has a big mouth.
Thank you, Allyson's hypothetical, non-existent, blabby sockpuppet. Good to know.
I might try to get to the box office or just start clicking frantically at noon, depending on whether I get a call I'm expecting. I wonder how many tickets per person they allow.
